Some Options When It Comes to Amazing Luxury Roses

Roses have been existing for quite a long time now. Rose gardening, on the other hand, is something that is not quite as old. Evidence from fossils have proven that roses have been existing for over 35 million years in the planet. Until 5000 years ago, however, roses became wild. Rose cultivation was thought to have started in China. The ancient Romans, on the other hand, were particularly fond of roses. In the Middle East, they made sure to cultivate them. During the fifteenth century in England, roses became symbols being boasted by two factions that got involved in a war regarding which faction will take over England. These two factions were Lancaster and York. The symbol of the former is a red rose while the symbol of the latter is a white rose. This is the reason why during that time, their war was better off called the "War of the Roses". During the seventeenth century, people have decided to make use of rose water is perfume. This is why roses have increased in demand. It was only during the eighteenth century, however, where cultivated roses were being introduced in Europe.

From the beginning of time up until the modern time, there are basically four generations of roses. They are as follows: species roses, old European garden roses, hard repeat blooming old roses, and modern roses. The first generation of roses that came into existence are the species rose under the genus Rosa. They come with very colorful hips and comprise five petals. Such roses typically bloom once a year during the early summer period.

Currently, there are several species of the genus Rosa growing wild among areas of the northern hemisphere. They are available in different sizes from climbing plants, large upright plants, to ground cover plants. Rosa rugrosa is one example of the most common variety being sold in the market today.

On the other hand, old European garden roses are hybrid roses that are dominant in the European gardens during the eighteenth century before the rise of Rosa cheniesis. Rosa cheniesis was first discovered in China. This kind of two dozen roses typically blooms repeatedly from early autumn months to late summer months. Old European garden roses are well known for being fragrant and cold hardy. They, however, are not as resistant to various plant diseases as what one usually assumes. Hardy repeat-blooming old roses are one example of this variety that are considered complete roses. This is because they have a wonderful fragrance, beautiful flowers, are resistant to diseases, and offer outstanding hardiness. They just do not bloom during the summer.
